How To Clean Your Mobility Scooter

It's important that you keep your scooter clean. So how do you clean your mobility scooter correctly?

Do Not Hose it Down

Some people get the idea to use a hose or pressure washer. You absolutely MUST NOT do this. If you get your mobility scooter wet, it will ruin the electronics. Mobility scooters are water resistant, not waterproof, as they're an electronic device.

How to Clean Your Mobility Scooter

To clean your mobility device, we recommend thoroughly wiping it down with a damp cloth and thoroughly drying it off immediately after. This ensures that you avoid any damage to the electronic controls and any damage to your seat.

Alternatively, you could use baby wipes to wipe your scooter down. You can also disinfectant wipes. However, if you do, we recommend that you do a small spot test in an inconspicuous area for 24 hours to ensure that it will not bleach or damage the surface.

If Your Scooter Does Get Wet

It can happen at times. Maybe you're taking a little trip down to the local shop to stock up on groceries, and it starts raining. Your scooter gets a little wet before you manage to get it under cover. Maybe you were cleaning it and the cloth was a little too damp. Perhaps you simply had a spill. So what should you do? You will need to dry your scooter off as quickly and thoroughly as possible to ensure that you minimise any exposure to water. If in doubt, contact us.

Now that you're armed with the information you need, you can clean your mobility scooter with peace of mind and ease. If you have any more questions, we are happy to help!
